Robert E. Buerkle

Robert E. Buerkle, 72, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:15 A.M., Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Robert was a retired heavy equipment operator for the coal mine.  He had worked for many years in the area as a master carpenter.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, VFW, and UMW of A.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Korean War.
He was born October13, 1930 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Frank E. and Clara P. (Morgan) Buerkle.
He married Betty Shepard on October 13, 1951 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two daughters - Randee Slover and husband David of Du Quoin, and Victoria Albon and husband Dean of Elkville, one son - Frankie Buerkle and fiancee Becky Washer of Du Quoin, one sister - Louise Heumann and husband Howard of Du Quoin, and four grandchildren - Christine Slover of Chicago, IL, Brianne Slover of Du Quoin, Joel E. Albon and Kathryn Albon of Elkville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Rosary was recited at 9:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
